David Bateman was born in Gross Pointe, Michigan in the same areas as Jerry Bruckheimer, Francis Ford Coppola and Glenn Frey. At age 9 he began his musical training. He studied the trumpet and then would move onto the piano where he would write his first composition. In high school, David then turned his attention to the guitar and percussion. After studying composition, arranging and theory in college, David focused on an outlet for his writing and performing abilities ... composing for picture and producing other artists.
David began his professional career writing jingles for local radio/TV ads and would perform in a wide variety of groups to dive into a multitude of genres and styles. He would also begin his teaching career. He then was offered to score student and independant films and would venture into orchestrating and arranging. He also opended a recording studio and began producing other songwriters and playing as an instrumentalist on their recordings.
David still resides in the Metro-Detroit area and is in demand for his musical talents. He's scored over 20 films, had songs featured on television series, worked on video games and other projects spanning the globe from Australia, England and the U.S. With today's technology. He has also been asked as guest speaker many times at local schools in Michigan.
David's other passion is in teaching his craft. In 2005 he opened the Michigan Music Center. A center that focuses solely on music education.
