ABANDON is about a mysterious woman travels a desolate highway, on the run from her violent past. When a benevolent stranger offers her a ride, the woman finds a companion to join her in her lonely journey. But each mile that brings them closer together, also brings them closer to the dark secret waiting at their next exit...

 

ABOUT THE SCORE

• I was brought onto this film to create an ambient, dark tone and subtle elements of sound to supplement the visuals. I was given the idea of music that you would find in a David Lynch film. I chose to keep the music more minimal and of a sound design with atmospheric soundscapes. To create this effect, I took a bunch of odd stringed instruments, time stretched them and added a ton of reverb and delays to give a long drawn out sound to capture the eeriness of the film. I used some pots & pans from my kitchen as well to create the bangs and swirls you'll hear in the cue Panic. In the Tina & Betty cue, I used cookie sheets and a sheet of metal to create the undertone with some extra string instruments. Other sources that I used were guitars, piano and certain sound effects from various sound libraries.
